The night lingers soft upon my skin, Streetlights stretch their shadows thin. Taxi tail lights blur and fade, My footsteps sway, still lost in the haze. Through the glass, the cafes wake, Newspapers rustle in morning’s hush. Neon sighs, closing the night, Yet I keep walking, holding on tight. Fading neon, drifting slow, Wrapped in jazz and the last echoes. Before the sky takes on the light, Let me stay in the night just a little more. Clock hands push toward the day, But my heart still clings to the past. Engines hum, dreams dissolve, Blues whisper in the air, pulling me along. Say goodbye to skyscraper shadows, Night breeze nudges me ahead. Close my eyes and hear it still, That old piano from the bar we left. Fading neon, drifting slow, Wrapped in jazz and the last echoes. Before the sky takes on the light, Let me stay in the night just a little more. Keys in my hand, the door waits near, The sky has already changed its hue. Yet somewhere deep inside my mind, The rhythm of midnight plays on through.
